Legie Barrett Dillard, 90, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, in Gainesville. Mrs. Dillard was born in Canton, N.C., and was a daughter of the late Lon Rankin and Mary Mae Morgan Payne. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Edward Barrett and Carl Dillard, and two sons, Jerome Litty Barrett and Carroll Lon Barrett. She is survived by her son, James E. "Ernie" Barrett and his wife, Charlotte Dorsey Barrett, of High Springs, FL; two sisters, Daisy Reed and Asalee Ashe; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, N.C. The Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiated. Burial was at Hominy Baptist Church cemetery. Her family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
