Ruby Hawkins Mullinax
Greenville
Ruby Hawkins Mullinax, 88, of 604 Berea Drive, left to be with her Lord on
Christmas Day, 2005.
Born on February 12, 1917, she was a daughter of the late
George Washington Hawkins Jr. and Mamie Wynn Hawkins and wife of the late Buzzie Lee Mullinax to whom she was married for
forty-three years.
Mrs. Mullinax was a graduate of Anderson College. She worked for Southern Bell Telephone
Company and was a member of Southern Bell Pioneers. She later worked as a
bookkeeper for her husband's pharmacy, Mullinax Drug Store. She was a
life-long member of Berea First Baptist Church, where she served in many
capacities throughout the years and was a member of the Fidelis
Sunday School Class.
She was a woman of great faith who, throughout her life, gave tirelessly of
herself to others. She loved people, her Lord, her church and her family. Her
zest for living and lively sense of humor, in good times and bad, are part of
the legacy she leaves for those who knew her. She never met a stranger. She
will be missed, but her loving spirit will be with us always.
Mrs. Mullinax is survived by two daughters and one son, Elizabeth M. Perry,
Mary M. Smith (wife of Kenneth Smith), and Barry L. Mullinax (husband of
Donna Mullinax), all of Greenville; six grandchildren, Garrick R. Perry, Greg
L. Perry, Jennifer A. Smith, Lauren N. Mullinax, Tracy S. Mullinax, and K.
Alex Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Caroline F. Perry and H. Elise
Perry.
She is predeceased by two sisters, Janie (Dolly) Wells and her twin, Ruth
Williams; and three brothers, G.W. Hawkins, Charles A. Hawkins, and Eugene
Hawkins.
Services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Berea First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Vaughn
officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1:15 p.m. prior to the service at the
church. Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Gardens.
